What we count

Late Night Trivia is a free daily game by Really Bad Studio. Here's everything this site counts, what stays on your device, and how to switch the counting off.

Page loads and plays

When the page loads, and when you start a night, we send a simple count to PostHog, an analytics service, in its United States region. We don't load PostHog's tracking script; our own small script sends the count. Each one carries the page, a broad browser family (like Chrome on macOS), the site that sent you here, any public campaign label in the link, and a random number that only lasts for that one page load, so we can't tell your visits apart.

Your score band

The first time you finish a night, we send one more count: which night it was, and which twentieth of a clean run your score landed in (say, 60 to 65 percent). That's all it carries. No ID, no browser, no answers, no exact score. Replays don't send anything.

That's how the audience graph on the results screen will show real players once enough people have played a night. Until then the graph is our estimate, and it's labeled that way.

What we don't do

What stays on your device

Your streak, the nights you've finished and your settings live in your browser's storage. We can't read them. Clearing your site data wipes them, and we have no copy to restore from.

Switching it off

If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, our counting script never loads and nothing is sent. Content blockers work too. The game plays exactly the same either way.

Hosting and how long we keep counts

The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, its servers log the requests they serve (your IP address, the page, your browser and the time) so pages reach you and outages get noticed. We don't build profiles from those logs. The game's fonts are served from this site.

PostHog keeps counts for up to one year. To ask about your data or have counts deleted, email studio@reallybadstudio.com and we'll answer within 30 days.

Updated 13 October 2026. If what we count changes, this page changes first.
